With WBA and WBC light welterweight champion Danny Garcia’s dominating performance over Rod Salka, there are several possible opponents for “Swift,” including Adrien Broner – who said he would take on Garcia, if it made sense.
Broner (28-1, 22 KOs), who has held championships in three different weight classes and a tune-up fight against Emmanuel Taylor, Sept. 6, in Cincinnati, Ohio, said he is looking to capture a championship at 140 pounds and Garcia might be on the list.
But Broden only wants the fight if there is a big payoff. In an interview with Showtime, Broner said he would go “where the money is,” whether it’s in a fight against Garcia or someone else.
Although a bout against Garcia may not make pay per view, it would still make money in terms of the gate. Swift said he would face anyone his management puts in front of him – including a match against Lamont Peterson. Still, management might focus on giving Garcia opponents to him help build up his resume and highlight reel before putting him another big-fight situation.
Broner also said he is interested in a rematch against Marcos Maidana, who is set to go up against Floyd Mayweather Jr. one week after Broner’s fight with Taylor.
