John Molina Jr. faces Humberto Soto

John Molina Jr. will return to the ring, Sept. 13, after suffering a loss in his vacant WBC Continental Americas light welterweight title bout against Lucas Matthysse back in April.

In a fight of the year candidate, Molina (27-4, 22 KOs) managed to knock Mattysee twice before being dropped three times before and knocked out in the 11th stanza.

Now he will look to get back on the winning track as he faces Humberto Soto in a 10-round junior welterweight fight. The bout will air on Showtime’s “Countdown Live” preview show before the Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Marcos Maidana pay per view telecast.

Before the Mattysee loss, Molina had back-to-back knockout wins over veteran Jorge Pimentel and prospect Mickey Bey.

As for the veteran Soto (64-8-2, 35 KOs), he is currently riding a six-fight winning streak. In his last fight he beat unknown Wilfrido Buelvas via decision.

This will be a good fight to keep Molina busy though it won’t move him up the rankings.
