VIdeo: Marcos Maidana gameplan for rematch

We’re just a couple of weeks away from the rematch between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Marcos Maidana, which happens on Sept. 13 at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, live on Showtime pay per view.

While Mayweather has his own preparations for the fight – not to mention the recent press outside of the ring – Maidana is continously putting in the hours before the rematch.

Showtime Sports released a video of Maidana’s sparring and training. According to the video, this time Maidana will have a full training camp – as opposed to the five-week preparation period – before his date with Money.

The two first faced off back in May with Mayweather getting the majority decision. Although he came away with the victory – and Maidana’s WBA welterweight title – Mayweather found himself against a worthy opponent who gave him some trouble.

Madiana admits it’s hard to get a clean punch on Mayweather, who is a counter puncher with amazing speed. However, Mayweather was thrown off by Maidana’s attacks in the beginning, but he adjusted.

It’s a short little video. If you have a couple of minutes, give it a watch.

Madiana said he can make improvements to his game plan, but if he sticks with moving forward, Mayweather will match that with defense and technique. Maidana has a more powerful punch, but if can’t land enough blows on Mayweather, he’ll have to change his plan during the fight and find another way to win.
